We have now arrived in West Papua and the town of Sorong, which is of no real interest but is the door to the beautiful archipelago of Raja Ampat "the four kings", where we start our dive liveaboard tomorrow, followed by a four-day kayaking trip staying at local guesthouses. It is interesting to spend time in a place that does not see many tourists. Tourists use Sorong just as a transit place, we are therefore the local stars, and people, especially children, are super nice to us. They greet us from across the street with their big smile and "Hello Mister" (yes, even for Virginie). We also experience the local food, we are glad we did not order what sounded appealing: "rica-rica" is... dog.
Indonesia is the biggest muslim country in the world, population wise, and alcohol is super expensive. 100$ for a bottle of whisky before taxes, but cigarettes are so cheap (less than 2$ a pack).
It is time to disconnect completely until we are back in this town on December 22.
